Summary note
Commentary on the Shāṭibīyah, a versification of the Taysīr li-ḥifẓ madhāhib al-qurrāʼ al-sabʻah by ʻUthmān ibn Saʻīd al-Dānī (d. 444/1053), on the readings of the Qurʼān. According to the end of this copy, the commentary was completed on 21 Rajab 884 [October 8, 1479] (fol. 70b).

27 lines per page. Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red. Light cream paper wih laid and chain lines. Several inscriptions on fol. 1a (mostly illegible). Inscription in Arabic numerals on the pastedown of the upper cover: "82".
Collation: Paper, fol. i, 70, i ; i (endleaf ; European paper with watermark "Tre lune"), 1-5¹⁰ 6⁴ (+1, fol. 55) 7¹⁰ 8⁴ (+1, fol. 66), i (endleaf; European paper with watermark) ; catchword on the verso of each leaf; the quires are numbered using arabic ordinals in the form "al-Thānī" (see fol. 11a).
Copy completed by Muḥammad ibn ʻAlī ibn Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Dāʼūdī al-Mālikī from an autograph on 5 Rabīʻ al-Thānī 903 [Dec. 1497] (colophon, fol. 70b).

Explicit: توفى الشيخ يوم الاحد ثامن عشرى جمادىي الاخرة سنة تسعين وخمسماية رضى الله عنه وغنابه قال مولفه سيدنا الشيخ ... جلال الدين ... فرغت هذا الشرح يوم الخميس حادي عشري رجب سنة اربع وثمانين وثمانمايه احسن الله عقباها بمنه وكرمه وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد واله وصحبه وسلم تسليما دايما ابداً
Binding note
Red leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers, fore-edge flap and envelope flap. Central blind stamped mandorla with an outer frame made of fillets and a running patten, with small flower stamps on the inner panel. Paper pastedowns.

Two reading statements on fol. 1a, signed Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm, dated 915 [1509 or 10] and Muḥammad, dated 919 [1513 or 14]. Ownership statement obliterated dated 1028 [1618 or 19] (fol. 1a). Seal on fol. 51b. Acquired from Abraham Shalom Yahuda, 1942.
