    Fragments from a manuscript of the Qurʾān in early Abbasid script, likely from the 9th century.

    • Ms. leaves.
    • Physical description: 3 lines per page; written in early Abbasid script (style D.Vc--see Déroche, F., The Abbasid tradition, no. 58) in dark brown on parchment. Verses are separated with triangles formed by six gold dots. The vowel signs are dots in red or green. The ḍammah is represented by a dot to the right of the letter, the fatḥah by one over and the kasrah by one below (cf. al-Suyūṭī, Itqān, Cairo, 1925, vol. II, p. 171, 11. 27-8). Some staining, and text partially worn away on some leaves. Ms. is mended.
    • Origin: Likely from the 9th century (compare with Déroche, F., The Abbasid tradition, no. 58).
